Paws and Peace

The dog curled up at her feet like it was his only job in the world to keep her safe. Every now and then, his tail thumped the floor when she looked down and smiled. Outside, the trees swayed slow, leaves whispering secrets to the wind. She scratched behind his ears, feeling that quiet kind of love—the kind that don’t need words, don’t ask for nothing back. Just presence. Just peace. Just family in its simplest form.
