Same Table, Same Breath

They sat around the same table, hands close but not touching, listening without interrupting. Schizophrenia is a chronic mental health condition that affects how a person thinks, feels, and perceives reality, and family support plays a critical role in long-term stability and quality of life (National Institute of Mental Health).

Studies show that supportive family environments are associated with fewer relapses and improved outcomes, especially when acceptance replaces judgment (Pharoah et al. 3). No one tried to fix anything that night. They shared food, space, and patience. Unity did not mean understanding everything. It meant staying present together.
