Small Outing, Big Calm

She stepped outside just to feel the day change around her. Short outings, even brief ones, have been shown to reduce stress and improve mood by interrupting rumination and increasing sensory engagement (White et al. 193).

Light recreational activity outside the home is also associated with improved emotional balance and reduced feelings of fatigue (Hartig et al. 879). She did not need a plan or destination. The outing itself was enough.
