Roots Remember

She watered the plant slowly, watching the soil darken and settle. Studies show that caring for plants supports emotional regulation and reduces symptoms of stress and anxiety by engaging attention and nurturing behavior (Soga et al. 95).

Interaction with living greenery also promotes psychological restoration and motivation through sustained focus and sensory grounding (Kaplan 170). The roots did not rush. Neither did she. Growth happened quietly, but it happened.
